~25, 1989 <br /> <br />525 <br /> <br /> At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, Jul <br />25, 1989, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gloria O. Webb, *Vic~ Mayor J. Robert Gray, **Jack P. <br />Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, L. Louise Lucas, <br />J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, <br />Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />89-293 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a special called meeting of the City Council <br />to be held in the City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 1989, for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into an Executiv <br />Session. <br /> <br /> By order of th~~ ~ayor." <br /> <br /> The following items were discussed in the Public Work <br />Session: <br /> <br />1. Joint Fire Training Presentation <br /> <br />2. Ambulance Franchise <br /> <br />3. Craney Island Landfill <br /> <br />89-294 - Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Gray, to go. int <br />Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code <br />of Virginia to discuss the following: <br /> <br /> 1. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to legal matters involving negotiations with <br />the Cities of Chesapeake and Suffolk as permitted under subsectic <br />(A) (7); <br /> <br /> 2. Consideration of the acquisition, sale and use of real <br />property located in or adjacent to the Churchland area of the Cit <br />for public purposes as permitted under subsection (a) (3); <br /> <br /> 3. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to a legal matter involving church owned <br />property in the City of Portsmouth as permitted under subsection <br />(A) (7); <br /> <br /> 4. Consideration of a personnel matter involving City <br />Council appointees as permitted under subsection (a) (1); <br /> <br /> 5. Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions <br />by the City Council as permitted under subsection (a) (1). <br /> <br />On motion was adopted by unanimous vote.*** <br /> <br />The meeting re-convened at 7:03 p.m. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Hawks, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344ol of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediatel <br />preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />Only public business matters lawfully exempted from ope <br />meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
