Riddick to be reappointed'for a term of <br />years, effective September 1, 1989. <br /> <br />four <br /> <br />Emergenc~ Medical Services Advisory Commission: <br /> <br /> Dr. Venita-Newby-©wens to be appointed as <br />replace Dr. R. D. Hunsaker, effective September <br /> <br />Long Term Case Coordinating Commission: <br /> <br /> Dr. Venita Newby-Owens to be appointed to fill an <br />unexpired term ending December 1, 1991, replacing Dr. R. D. <br />Hunsaker. <br /> <br />Ex-Officio to <br />12, 1989. <br /> <br />for <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to close <br />the nominations and approve unanimously, and there being no <br />further nominations, the above nominations3~r~i.a~pi~ed by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br />89-377 Mr. Simpson showed a national sports magazine which <br />contained an article on the PIT held in~ Portsmouth each year. <br />Mayor Webb~requested that the City Clerk make copies for all of <br />Council. ~ <br /> <br />89-378 Mr. Barnes asked that Council have the City <br />Attorney's Office draft a resolution supporting Council's <br />position that any funding made available in the Presidential or <br />Congressional Drug Control pro~rams be mad~ available to the <br />cities, as well as to the State and Federal government, for <br />mandated programs. The resolution should be sent to the state <br />governor, the Congressional delegation, the State legislators, <br />and the Virginia Municipal League. Mayor Webb is going to write <br />letters on this also.~ ~ <br /> <br />89-379 Mayor Webb reminded those citizens present of the <br />Positive Portsmouth Conference to be held on Wednesday, ~ <br />September 13, 1989 at 7:00 p.m. in Cit~ Council Chambers and <br />encouraged all to attend. <br /> <br />89-380 R.A. Markel, 417 County Street, representing the <br />Fraternal Order of Police Gosport Lodge 920, spoke on overtime <br />payment for the police officers involved in working Labor Day <br />weekend. Also inquired if the Council had made a decision on <br />additional funding for retired city employees benefits. <br /> <br /> <br />
