578 September 12, 1989 At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, September 12, 1989, there were present: -Mayor Glori~ O'~ Webb, ~Vice Mayo'r ~. Robert Gray, Jack P. Barnes, *E. G. Corprew, Jr., **James C. Hawks, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert 'Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Stuart Katz, City Attorney. 89-358 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a special called meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chambers, .6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 1989, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: CIP - presentation by George L. Hanbury, II SEVAMP briefing by Kathy Donohue, Executive Director 3. Western Freeway 89-360 - Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to go into Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss the following: 1. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members pertaining to legal matters involving negotiations with the Cities of Chesapeake and Suffolk as permitted under subsection (A) (7); 2. A personnel matter regarding appointments for Boards and Commissions as permitted under subsection (A) (1). 3. Consultation with legal counsel and briefings pertaining to actual or probable litigation as permitted under subsection (A) (1); On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. The meeting re-convened at 7:03 p.mo On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned.
