Thisresolution shall take effect from <br />adoption." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br /> Nays: Corprew <br /> <br /> Virginia" <br />the date of its' <br /> <br /> D) Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, the <br />following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 19 TO THE CRAWFORD <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1, <br />1967, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the <br />Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the <br />project area, which Plan consists of 15 pages and 4 exhibits <br />(Amendment No. 19); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 19 proposes to designate additional <br />properties as "To Be Acquired" and to redesignate several <br />renovated properties as "NOt to be Acquired"; and <br /> <br /> ?WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those <br />prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, <br />familial status, handicap~ sex or national orig~n; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment be approved. <br /> <br /> N~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth,iVirginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That regarding Amendment No. 19, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the~objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal <br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be~better achieved by the <br />adoption of said amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 19 meets the requirements of a <br />plan for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of <br />Title 365 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> <br />
