October 24, 1989 At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, October 24, 1989, there were present: Mayor Gloria O~ Webb, Vice Mayo~ J. Robert Gray, Jack P, Barnes, *E. G. Corprew, Jrt, James c. Hawks, ~*L. LouiSe Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II~ City Manager, stuart E~ Katz, City Atterney, 89-416 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council %o be held in the City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Hall,~801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 1989, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." The following items were discussed in the Session: Public Work Council Agenda 2. SEVAMP briefing by Kathy Donohue, Executive Director 89-417 - Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes to go into Executive Session pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for the purpose of: 1. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to separate matters of actual litigation involving (a) The Portsmouth/Chesapeake boundary, and (b) Portsmouth police officers, as permitted under Subsection (A)(7) 2. Discussion or consideration of the use or acquisition of real property for public purpose, in the southern portion of the City as permitbed under Subsection (A)(3). 3. Consultation with legal counsel and briefings pertaining to separate legal matters regarding (a) Legislative proposals (b) Discussion of a contract for Risk Management for the 1989-90 fiscal year all as permitted under Subsection (A)(7). 4. Personnel matters regarding appointments for Boards and Commissions as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. The meeting re-convened at 7:06 p.m.
