Robert Gray <br />Jack P. Barnes, *E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, <br />L. Louise Lucas~ J. Herbert Simpson, <br />George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, <br />Stuart~ Katz, ~Ci.ty ~Attorney <br /> <br />89-439 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the Council Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 1989, <br />for the purpose of a Public Work Session. · <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> The following'items were <br />Session: <br /> <br />discussed <br /> <br />in the Public Work <br /> <br /> 1. Art COllins, Director of Southeastern Virginia <br />Planning District Commission briefed Council on Regional <br />Funding Authority. <br /> <br /> 2. Carol Pratt, Public Information Officer briefed <br />Council on new schedule for pick up of bulk refuse. <br /> <br /> 3. Council was briefed on ShamrOck Drive/Early Drive <br />ditch. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to go into <br />an Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the <br />Code of Virginia for the purpose of: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussing personnel matters regarding appointments <br />for Boards and Commissions as permitted under Subsection (a) <br />(1); <br /> <br /> (2) Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to matters <br />of actual litigation involving the Portsmouth Police Officers <br />as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings <br />pertaining to a Contract for Risk Management for 1989-90 fiscal <br />year as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); <br /> <br /> (4) Discussing personnel matters regarding the Portsmouth <br />Police Department as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br /> (5) Discussing a prospective business where no previous <br />announcement has been made of the business's interest in <br />locating in the downtown section of the City as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (5); <br /> <br /> (6) Discussing the condition for use of real property for <br />public purpose in the southwestern portion of the City as <br />permitted under Subsection (A) (3). <br /> <br />Motion adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
