November 21~,. 1989 The General Assembly will convene for a 60 day Session on January 10, 1990. It should be noted that the Legislature will adopt a new biennium budget during the Session. The~local items contained, in our pac~ag~ for c0nsi~eration by our General Assembly Delegation and the Legislature have not b~en p~iori~ tized as they are all important to the continued progress and growth of the City. ~ 7~i The City Attorney has drafted the attached resolution endorsing the 1990 Legislative Proposals and authorizing submission to our General Assembly Delegation." Motion of Mr~31Simpson and seconded~by Mr. Hawks, the following resOlutio~ ~as approved on firs% and finall reading and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S 1990 LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS TO BE PRESENTED TO THE PORTSMOUTH DELEGATION AND THE MEMBERS OF THE VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY. WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with abroad range of issues that affect local governments both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns which deal with both local governments and Portsmouth specifically~ and WHEREAS, these c~ncerns and issues need to be made known to Portsmouth's General Assembly Delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Legislature. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Po~tsmoutk endorses the attached. ~egislativs proposals for the 1990 General Assembly Session and directs that botk this resolution and the legislative proposals be forwarded to the Portsmouth General Assembly Delegation."
