January 23, 1990 <br /> <br /> At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />January 23, 1990, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor J. Robert G~ay, Jack P. <br />Barnes, *Eo G. Corprew, Jr., **James C. Hawks, J. Herbert <br />Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Stuart E. <br />Katz, City Attorney.*** <br /> <br />90-31 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Streeti-at 4~730 p.m. ~uesday, January 23, 1990, for the <br />purpose of a joint meeting with the Commissioners of Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority and a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. · <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> The following items were discussed in <br />Session: ~ <br /> <br />the Public Work <br /> <br />1. Ail America City Application <br /> <br />2. Smithfield Foods <br /> <br />3. Drinking Water Protection Fund <br /> <br /> 90-33 - Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray <br />go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for the purpose of: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br /> 1. Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by <br />staff on a lega!~matter involving King's Crossing as permitted <br />under Subsection (A) (7); and <br /> <br /> 2. Discussion or consideration of the condition or use <br />of several parcels of real property for public purpose or the <br />disposition of publicly held property, which could affect the <br />value of property owned in the downtown portion of the City, as <br />permitted under Subsection (A) (3); <br /> <br /> 3. Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by <br />staff members pertaining to a legal matter regarding the <br />Department of Public Utilities as permitted under Subsection (A) <br />(7); <br /> <br /> 4. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members involving actual litigation regarding the erroneous <br />assessment of business personal property as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (7)~ <br /> <br /> 5. Consideration of appointments to Boards and <br />Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (1). <br /> <br />On motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Simpson, Webb <br /> <br />The meeting re-convened at 7:04 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
