April 10, 1990 "I am pleased to inform you that the Governor's Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Problems nas awarded Portsmouth $20,000 based upon our proposal on Youth Against Drugs. The $20,000 grant for an alcohol and other drug use prevention and education program for high risk ~outh will allow us to continue to provide a "preventative en~ironment"~free of drug and alcohol use thr6~gh wholesome recreation participation for youth living in the Six P~rtsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority public housing neighborhoods. The total grant award of $20,000 in state funds represents 100% of pro3ect costs. I recommend approval of the funds~and the transfer of $20,000 from the Grants Contingency Account." Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mrs. authorization was g~anted to transfer the funds and was adopted by unanimous vote. Real Estate Taxes $ 117.50 to :Carteret Mortgage Company 138.69 to_Ferrei1, Backus, Sayer & Nicolo 2,134.71 to Hampton Roads Crossing Associates 157.50 to Nicholas C. Cinquegrani "The Commissioner of Revenue is requesting the following refunds (without interest) for Business License Taxes erroneously paid: As listed~above The City Treasurer is requesting the following refunds (without interest) for Real Estate Taxes paid erroneously: As listed above I recommend that City Council adopt this motion and the refunds be granted." Motion Of-Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that authorization be granted for the refunds (without interest) as requested, and was adopted by unanimous vote.
