170 <br /> <br />April <br /> <br />April 24, 1990 <br /> <br />At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />24, 1990, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor J. Robert Gray, Jack P. <br />Barnes, *E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, L. Louise <br />Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, V. Wayne OrtOn, Interim City <br />Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. -- <br /> <br />90-146 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Rall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 1990, for the <br />purpose of a joint meeting with the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />~ousing Authority Commissioners and a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> The following items were discussed in the Public Work <br />Session: <br /> <br />1. Bond for Meals Tax <br /> <br />2. Mid-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra <br /> <br />3. Country village briefing by PRHA <br /> <br />4. Demolition activities briefing by PRHA <br /> <br />90-147 - Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of <br />of the Code of Virginia to: <br /> <br /> Gray to go <br />Section 2.1-344 <br /> <br /> (1) Consideration or discussion of the use of six parcels <br />of public real property in the Downtown Area as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (3); and <br /> <br /> (2) Consideration of appointments to Boards and <br />Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (1); and <br /> <br /> (3) The investing of public funds where competition or <br />bargaining is involved as permitted under Subsection (A) (6); <br />and <br /> <br /> (4) Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to the CGX <br />use permit as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); and <br /> <br /> (5) Consideration or diScussion of salaries of street <br />closing viewers as permitted under Subsection (A) (1). <br /> <br />On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />The meeting re-convened at 6:59 p.m. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying <br />that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
