September 26, 2000 ~ 2 '~ 3 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on TUesday, September 26, 2000, there were present: MayOr James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D.- Griffin, Sr, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn I1~, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney Timothy Oksman. 00 - 229 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 230 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Future Search Conference 2. Children's Museum Marketing Report 00 - 231 - Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by subparagraph 3, with the subject property being ~n the midtown and Victory Boulevard/l- 264 areas of the City; and discussion of appointments to boards and commissions, as authorized by subparagraph 1. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council MembeYs knowledge during the rnmediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: I Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
