Moody, Jr. to be appointed as Alternate Member of the Hampton Roads Air <br />Quality Committee (HRAQC). <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to close nominations, and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />09 - 400 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />'" Mr. Smith, referring to Item 09-395, suggested that the City Engineer look into <br />replacing the traffic signalization poles with green or black poles rather than the <br />industrial gray steel. <br /> <br />'" Mr. Moody asked that Staff get in contact with Virginian Dominion Power to have <br />light poles that have been damaged in Portsmouth replaced. <br /> <br />09 - 401 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />. Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the July 14, 2009 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />. Fire Marshal Mike Stockton provided an update on the implosion of the BASF <br />building. <br /> <br />09 - 402 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Luther Anderson, 4910 Johnson Avenue, stressed the importance of community <br />readiness in the event of an emergency and encouraged all citizens to get involved <br />in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. <br /> <br />2. Barbeta Terry, 909 Darren Drive, questioned the cost of maintaining the pool in <br />Cavalier Manor. <br /> <br />3. Robert Turner, 4313 Templar Drive, requested that the City Council adopt and <br />implement a noise ordinance. He also brought to City Council's attention <br />discrepancies in a public utilities bill that he received. <br /> <br />4. Clifford Kalmbach, 3702 Magnolia Drive, brought to City Council's attention his <br />dissatisfaction with the Board of Equalization Proposal Process. He also asked that <br />City Council change the Rules and Procedures that pertain to speakers of agendal <br />non-agenda items. <br /> <br />5. Tony Goodwin, 38 Linden Avenue, spoke in opposition to the current Virginia <br />Department of Transportation Proposal. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 9:29 p.m. <br />
