The Notice of Application and Request for Appointment of <br />Viewers has been advertised. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of the resolution appointing viewers <br />for this application." <br /> <br /> Sylvester Brown, 1915 Laigh Circle, representing <br />Hattonsville Civic League, spoke expressing the support of the <br />Civic League in the closing of the street. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, the <br />following resolution was adopted on first and final reading, <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING A PORTION OF <br />LAIGH ROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the <br />hereinafter-described portion of Laigh Road, and it appearing <br />that Notice of Application and Request for Appointment of <br />Viewers has been advertised as required by law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of ~he City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Roy Leinart, Howard L. Davis, <br />George N. Powers, Richard Wood, and James P. Ely be appointed <br />viewers and that Lee Batts and Casey Lavender, be appointed <br />alternate viewers in the event one of the preceding viewers <br />fails to participate, said viewers to the view the <br />hereinafter-described portion of such street and to report to <br />this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any <br />what, .inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the <br />following: <br /> <br /> Laigh Road <br /> <br /> Beginning at the intersection of the <br />Sou~theast right-of-way line of Laigh Road <br /> with the Southwest right-of-way line of <br />'The Seaboard Coastline Railroad; thence <br />:West along the Southwest right-of-way <br /> line of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad, <br />~a distance 50' to the Northwest right- <br />of-way line of Laigh Road; thence North <br />along the northwest right-of-way line of <br />Laigh Road; a distance 70' to a point; <br />thence along a cu~.~to!~h~, having <br />a radius of 20', a distance of 31.42' to <br />a point; thence along a curve to the left, <br />having a radius of 70', a distance of <br />109.96'.to a point; thence South along <br /> the Southeast right-of-way line of Laigh <br /> Road a distance of 160.14' to the point <br /> of~beginning.'' <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, ~awks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
