F. Brickhouse, Inc. <br /> "As part of the renewal work in the Br~ghton/S0uth ~ <br />Portsmouth area, the Public Utilities Department desires to <br />place some 7,870 feet of new 24" and 16" water main. This new <br />line would correct long-standing fire flow and pressure ~ <br />deficiencies in Southern Portsmouth, The need for this line . <br />was identified in the Public Utilities Department's Master <br />Infrastructure Rehabilitation Plan (October, 1987) and its <br />sizing confirmed through on,site flow tests and computer <br />modeling. The main is programmed to go in before the remaining <br />street and drainage work in Brighton to avoid conflicts. <br /> <br /> Bids for this project were opened on June 21, 1990. A bid <br />tabulation, recommendation for award to the lowest responsible <br />bidder, L. F. Brickhouse, Inc., and a recommendation to retain <br />the Engineering Design Firm of Baldwin & Gregg, Ltd. to <br />furnish and project inspection from the City's Public Utilities <br />Director is attached. <br /> <br /> The appropriation requested from the current and prior <br />year's Public Utilities Capital Improvements Fund is <br />$902,200,00 and is broken down as follows: <br /> <br /> Construction Contract (L. F. Brickhouse, Inc.) $789,547.00 <br /> Inspection and Contract Administration 62,100.00 <br /> Contingencies 50,553~00 <br /> TOTAL $902,200.00 <br /> <br /> I concur with the recommendations of the Public utilities <br />Director and ask your permission to appropriate the necessary <br />~funds and to award the construction and inspection/contract <br />administration contracts." <br /> <br /> On Motion of Mr. Clemons and seconded by Mr. Hawks, the <br /> following ordinance was approved on first reading, and the <br /> contract awarded to L. F. Brickhouse, Inc., the lowest <br /> responsible bidder, and by unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
