October 9, 2000 ~)8 3 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, October 9, 2000, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />*P; Ward Robinett, Jr., J: Thomas Bonn III, William E. Moody, Jrt, Charles B. <br />Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />00 - 242 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:30 p.m., Monday, <br />October 9, 2000, for the purpose of a Closed Session. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />00 - 243 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr, Griffin, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br /> subsection 3, the acquisition or sale of realty for a public purpose; <br /> <br /> subsection 4, prospective business expansion or location, and also investing <br />public funds where competition or bargaining is involved; and <br /> <br /> subsection 5, a prospective business or industry or the expansion of an <br />existing business or industry which has not been previously announced. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr~ Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to~ Section <br />2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br />Dr. J"~.
