Central Fidelity Bank and any successor is hereby <br />granted a special exception to the off-street parking <br />requirements in the Downtown D-1 District Mixed Use <br />Subdistrict as provided for in Section 40-121(b)(iv) for the <br />property known as Bui~lding No. 3~of the. Bristol Squa.re Office <br />Complex located at 311 County Street by the granting of a <br />waiver 6f~ se~en~eeh (17) of the~r~ired'parking sp~c~s for the <br />operation of an office building and accessory uses, such <br />special exception being approved subject to the following <br />conditions: <br /> <br /> (a)- The-special exception is expressly <br /> conditioned u~o6-th% ~0~t~'nued use of the property for an <br /> office building and accessory uses, and any change from <br /> such use shall cause the special exception hereby granted <br /> to be terminated. <br /> <br /> (b) The applicant and any successor shall <br />continue to provide twenty-three (23) on-site parking spaces." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Corprew, King, Hawks, Lu~as, ~ebb~ <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 91-55 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of an ordinance to appropriate $310,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for the design of an addition and <br />modifications to the existing Jail structure at the Civic <br />Center complex, and award of the contract to the low bidder, <br />Williams, Tazewell and Associates. <br /> <br /> "On January 22, t991, I presented you with a plain' for <br />modifications and improvements to zhe existing Jail structure.. <br />These were not intended to completely alleviate the <br />overcro~d~n~ b~ 'r~ to ~r~e so~os~itive~ ~e[i'ef t0' a <br />potentially explosive situat~ion. <br /> <br /> At this time, it is necessary to appropriate $31~,00~ for <br />the design of the improvements and award of the design contract <br />to Williams, Tazewell..and Associates. Williams, Tazewell and <br />Associates was selected through the procedure required for the <br />procurement of profess'ional services. The required <br />appropriation is itemized as follows: <br /> <br />Williams, Tazewell and Associates <br />Testing, Borings, Etc. <br />Contract Administration and Review <br /> <br />$290,000 <br />$ 10,000 <br />$ 10,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL $310,000 <br /> <br /> The primary emphasis 6f the improvements is a two-story <br />addition to the existing structure. The program and support <br />services are to be combined with the administrative offices on <br />the first f'too~,'~with~the secon'd floor providing increased <br />inmate housing and a rooftop recreation area. The total budget <br />intended for these improvements is $4,000,000, with award of a <br />construction contract anticipated i'n 1992. <br /> <br /> The Di~ect0r of Public Works recommends an appropriation <br />of $310,000 and award of the design contract to ~illiams, ...... <br />Tazewell and Associates. <br /> <br /> <br />
