<br />360 <br /> <br />January 5. 2009 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, January 5, 2009, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, *Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene W. Randall, <br />Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Douglas L. Smith, Charles B. Whitehurst <br />Sr., City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />09 - 01 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 for the <br />purpose of a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />09 - 03 - Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A)(1) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss one or more specific public officials and positions within city government. <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting is the personnel and staffing matters. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of this subject. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, pursuant to Section 2.2- <br />3712(0) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2.
