Moti. on of Mr. King and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and by unanimous vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $22,300.00 FROM THE UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR-ADDITIONAL FOR THE INSTALLATION OF AN ALARM SYSTEM THAT WILL MALFUNCTIONS AT THE CITY'S SEWAGE PUMP STATIONS." PUBLIC FUNDING INDICATE 91-183 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance creating a one-way traffic system in the alleyways from Chautauqua Avenue to Douglas Avenue and from Bayview Boulevard to Adriatic ~Street- "In order to improve bofh safety and traffic operations in the alleyways from Bayview Boulevard ~o Adriatic Street in the Port Norfolk area of the City, I am recommending system be established and that Section 22-451 of be changed to include the following alleyways: that a one-way the City Code, One-way from Chautauqua Avenue west to Douglas Avenue in the 100 block. All alleyways in the 100 block running north and south from Chautauqua Avenue to Douglas Avenue are to be made one-way south to Adriatic Street. This proposal has been discussed with members of the Port Norfolk Civic League who are in favor of these changes. This one-way system will allow better traffic flow, provide an adequate route for trash trucks, and force a lot of unnecessary through traffic now using the alleyways back to local streets where it should be. I, therefore, recommend that the City Code be changed to allow for this one-way system." Motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. King, to defer the matter until the Regular Meeting of June 11, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 1991 91-184 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution appointing viewers for closing portions of G. Street, Wilcox Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Lee Street, Pennock Street, McCracken Street and Ivey Place.
