This <br />app=op~iation fo=in~talla~ion~foltows t~e~initial'~ <br />appropriation as it wf-ll take,some six to eight weeks for the <br />alarm system equipment to be delivered. <br /> <br /> t concur ~ith this request and note that no City or <br />Utility funds are being appropriated, only those funds that <br />developers have contributed for this purpose are being used." <br /> <br /> Moti. on of Mr. King and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, <br />the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and <br />by unanimous vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $22,300.00 FROM THE <br />UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR-ADDITIONAL <br />FOR THE INSTALLATION OF AN ALARM SYSTEM THAT WILL <br />MALFUNCTIONS AT THE CITY'S SEWAGE PUMP STATIONS." <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> FUNDING <br /> INDICATE <br /> <br /> 91-183 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of an ordinance creating a one-way traffic system in <br />the alleyways from Chautauqua Avenue to Douglas Avenue and from <br />Bayview Boulevard to Adriatic ~Street- <br /> <br /> "In order to improve bofh safety and traffic operations in <br />the alleyways from Bayview Boulevard ~o Adriatic Street in the <br /> <br />Port Norfolk area of the City, I am recommending <br />system be established and that Section 22-451 of <br />be changed to include the following alleyways: <br /> <br />that a one-way <br />the City Code, <br /> <br />One-way from Chautauqua Avenue west to Douglas <br />Avenue in the 100 block. <br />All alleyways in the 100 block running north and <br />south from Chautauqua Avenue to Douglas Avenue <br />are to be made one-way south to Adriatic Street. <br /> <br /> This proposal has been discussed with members of the Port <br />Norfolk Civic League who are in favor of these changes. This <br />one-way system will allow better traffic flow, provide an <br />adequate route for trash trucks, and force a lot of unnecessary <br />through traffic now using the alleyways back to local streets <br />where it should be. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend that the City Code be changed to <br />allow for this one-way system." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. King, <br />to defer the matter until the Regular Meeting of June 11, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />1991 <br /> <br /> 91-184 Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a resolution appointing viewers for closing <br />portions of G.
