December 10, 1991 <br /> <br /> At a Regular Meeting of the City, Council held on-December <br />10, 1991, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor3Glo~i~ G.~Webb, Vice Mayor E. G. Corprew, Jr., <br /> Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Lee E. King, <br /> James C. Hawks, L. Louise Lucas, ~ Wayne Orton, <br /> City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Antoinette Brown, 8th grade student at Churchland~Jr~High <br />School opened the meeting with prayer, Heather Apperson, 7th <br />grade student at Church.land Jr.~High_ School, led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Dr. Lydia Patton, introduced the Portsmouth "Ambassadors <br />of Joy" choir directed by Mr. A~os Davis. <br /> <br /> Motion'of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr.-K~ng, minutes of <br />the Called Meeting of~November 26, 1991; minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting of November 26, 1991; minutes of a Called Meeting of <br />December 2, 1991, to be approved as received, and was adopted <br />by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Webb welcomed all visitors in attendance. <br /> <br /> 91-424 - Resolution commending Mr. Amos Davis for his <br />service to the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons and seconded by Mr. Epperson, the <br />following resolution was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. AMOS DAVIS FOR HIS .SERVICE TO <br /> THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Amos Davis is the Director and Conductor of <br />the Ambassadors of Joy, a choir composed of City employees <br />volunteering their time to bring joy to the City of Portsmouth <br />during this holiday season; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Davis' unselfish and tireless efforts have <br />resulted in the creation of a choir which will spread joy <br />throughout the City of Portsmouth during this holiday season; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Davis' time, talent, and dedication are an <br />inspiration to all of the citizens of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Council does hereby commend <br />Mr. Amos Davis on his service to the City of Portsmouth and on <br />the success of the Ambassadors of Joy choir and expresses its <br />appreciation and pride in his achievements. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this Council and that a copy be <br />presented to Mr. Amos Davis in recognition of his service and <br />achievements." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Corprew, Epperson, King, Hawks, Lucas, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
