Holley III, Vice Mayor Marlene W. Randall, William E. Moody, Jr., Stephen E. <br />Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Douglas L. Smith, City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City <br />Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />08 - 181 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008 for the purpose of a <br />Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />08 - 182 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. FY 09 Operating Budget and CIP <br />Museum Foundation - Martha Frances Fortson <br />Teacher Retention - Dr. David Stuckwisch <br /> <br />08 - 183 - Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. D. Smith, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia to discuss appointments <br />by City Council: <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting is to discuss the qualifications of candidates for <br />appointments to boards and commissions. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of candidates. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. D. Smith, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(D) <br />of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />Ani .
