January 28, 1992 At a Called Meeting of the City council held on Tuesday, January ~28, 1992, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, *Vice Mayor E. G. Corprew, Jr., Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, *James C. Hawks, Lee E. King, Junius H. Williams, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 92-25 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please ~attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held on Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at 4:45 p.m., in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, for the purpose of considering a motion to go into an Executive Session for interviewing prospective School board members, and a Public Work Session will follow. Following the Public Work Session, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Williams to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion and consideration of the acquisition of real property for public use in the waterview and Churchlan~ parts of the City as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Consultation with the City Attorney regarding litigation (Thomas vs. Williams~ et al; City vs. Jones; Strickler vs. City; and Commonwealth vs. Jeter) as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); (3) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by staff pertaining t~ a legal matter concerning a zoning code interpretation in the 6000 block of High Street as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); (4) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under~Subsection (A) (1). (5) Discussion and consideration of the performance of the City Manager as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); Motion adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded b~~~?~.D~am~-~~ pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the ~ode of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were ~dentified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. Motion adopted by unanimous vote.
