255 <br />February 11, 1992 <br /> <br /> At a Called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />February 11, 1992, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, *Vice Mayor E. G. Corprew, J~., Johnny <br />M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Lee E~ King, James C. Hawks, Junius <br />H. Williams, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, <br />City Attorney <br /> <br /> 91-42 - The following call for the meeting was rea~: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Ha~l, 801 <br />Crawford Street~ at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 1992 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into aH Executive <br />Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 91-43 ' The following items were discussed in the ~ublic Work <br />Session: <br /> <br />1. ~ntroduction of the new Director of Tourism, <br /> <br />K~ith Toler. <br /> <br /> 2. An update on the Regional Jail by V. Wayne OrtQn, City <br />Manager. <br /> <br /> 3. Consideration of Council to provide the Mayor's Sister <br />Cities Commission with $2,000.00 for posters to be sold iat the <br />Crew Classic. <br /> <br /> By an unanimous vote of Council, the City Manager will <br />proceed with funding the Commission with the $2,000.00. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. Clemo~s, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to Section 2.1-344 of t~e Code of <br />Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Discussion or consideration of the use of publlic <br />property in the DOwntown portion of the City ~s <br />permitted under Subsection (A)(3); <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Discussion or consideration of the acquisitio~ of real <br />property for public use in the Downtown portioin of the <br />City as permitted Under Subsection (A)(3); <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Consultation with the City Attorney and briefiing by <br />staff on two matters of litigation (Musser v. iCity, et <br />al and Lopes v. City) as permitted under Subse!ction <br />(A)(7); ~ <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions <br />by the City Council as permitted under Subsectlion (A) <br />(i). <br /> <br />Motion adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Eppersonl, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying ithat to <br />the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately <br />preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />(i) <br /> <br />Only public business matters laWfully exemptedl from open <br />meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
