<br />Fund for the purchase of a planetarium instrument and auxiliary
<br />equipme~t, an~ award of the contract to~the low bidder, Spitz,

<br /> "As you know, the Beazley Foundation has generously
<br />awarded a $475,000 grant to fund the relocation of the
<br />Portsmouth Public Schools Planetarium~ ho,the ne:w ChildrenT. s~! ~
<br />Museum. In addition to the vigorous private fund-raising
<br />efforts for the new Museum, I plan to i~nclud~e in my
<br />recommendations for the next capital budget, public funds for
<br />this joint public/private project.

<br /> Since the planetarium equipment will require a long lelad
<br />time of 9 to 12 months to build, I am requesting your approval
<br />of an o~dinance[~o; appropriate $34t,~314 from the Capita~
<br />Improvemehts Fund.fo~.the purchase of .the equipment to take
<br />advantage of the favorable bid price ~received. I further
