Whitehurst, Sr., Co-Chairmen of National Night Out <br />on Crime and Drug Prevention Programs. · ~ <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor King presented special 'lapel pins to newly <br />appointed Supplemental Retirement Board member, William S. <br />Vokonas, and Planning Commission member, Robert C. Barclay, IV. <br /> <br />92-418 - NON-AGENDA SPEAKERS <br /> <br /> Anita L. Futrell, 1349 Green Street, spoke concerning a <br />letter stating that the Washington Park residents did not need <br />to be moved because of the lead contamination. She did not <br />agree with the letter and asked for city support to move the <br />residents. <br /> <br /> Minister Rafiq Zaidi, 3106 Hull Street, spoke concerning a <br />pending ccnference he has planned with the Abex attorneys <br />concerning the lead contamination in Washington Park. <br /> <br /> Helen Person, 1314 Green Stre~t, sp~ke, concerning the <br />clean-up of the Abex site and requested ~nformation on the <br />tunnels located under the site and asked when a stress team <br />would be in place to assist the Washington Park residents. <br /> <br /> J. Brewer Mo~re, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, representing <br />Hodges Manor Civic League, spoke concerning the Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority and the Comprehensive <br />Housing Affordability Strategy. <br /> <br />the <br /> <br /> Susan Taylor Hansen, 300 North Street, representing <br />the Olde Towne residents, spoke concerning the North Street <br />Park and the removal of the playground equipment. <br /> <br /> Charlotte Scott, P. O. Box 324, representing People <br />Against Ruthless Injustices in the System, spoke concerning <br />lead contamination at the Abex site and the relocation the <br />Washington Park residents. <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - <br /> <br /> 92-419 - Public Hearing for exemption from taxation <br />application on behalf of Oasis: Commission on Social Ministry <br />of Portsmouth and Chesapeake. <br /> <br /> There being no speakers, the Vice Mayor closed the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br /> 92-420 - Public Hearing on proposed Charter amendments <br />for the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in opposition to any change <br />in Civil Service Rules 9 and 10: <br /> <br /> Lloyd Beazley, 3186 Reese Drive, representing the <br />Portsmouth Professional Ffrefighters. <br /> <br /> Garland Alexander, 3400 Nelson Street, representing <br />Portsmouth Firefig~hters, Local 539. <br /> <br /> Jerry Myers, 3185 Reese Drive, representing the Police and <br />Fire Departments Union. <br /> <br /> <br />
