Januar~ 26~ 1993 <br /> <br />93-37 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />motion authorizing the City Manager to execute an amended <br />contract with AEC Engineers to exceed the 25% cap on contract <br />change orders for the rehabilitation~of the Glensheallah <br />elevated tank~- ~ ~ <br /> <br /> "The Director of Public Utilities has requested permission <br />to exceed the 25% cap on contract change orders to close out <br />contracts related to the rehabilitation of the Glensheallah <br />elevated wate~ tank. ~ ~ <br /> <br /> Due to weather and other delays, the project was completed <br />40 calendar days late. ~ Extra inspecti©n and contract <br />administration c~sts amounting to $12,030 were incur~ed~by the <br />Department with AEC Engineers for this delay. O~ this amount, ~ <br />$9,043 will be recovered from the contractor (Odland~iPro~tec~ive~ <br />Coatings, Incorporated, Blaine, MN) as liquidated damages for <br />late completion~ ~ The~remaining $2,987 ~is ~ttr~ibut~ed~to ~ ! ~ <br />documented bad weather days granted to the contractor a.n~d~-~ilI,~ <br />be paid by the City. <br /> <br /> I concur~with this request and recommend your a~pproval~o <br />exceed the 25% cap on the contract changes. No additional <br />appropriation is required as the o~igin~l constrUction <br />appropriation carried a sufficient contingency to eove~ the <br />City's portion of the costs." <br /> <br /> Motion Of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Epperson to <br />authorize the City Manager to execute an amended contract to <br />exceed the 25% cap on contract change orders for the <br />rehabilitation of the Glensheallah elevated tank was ad~ol3ted and <br /> <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Clemons, Epperson, <br />NAYS: None ~ ~ <br /> <br />Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br /> <br />93-38 - Letter <br /> <br />from the City Manager ~ecommending adoption of a <br /> <br />motion to transfer $101,618 from the Grants Contingency AcCount <br />to continue the substance abuse program !in the j~il ~along with <br />activities related to the identification and screening of <br />infants and toddlers who are at risk of developmental delays in <br />growth and f~ncti~oning. <br /> <br /> "The Executive Dir~ector of the C~mmuni{y Services Board <br />has informed.~me that they have received continuation of federal <br />funding for activities related to the identification and <br />screening of infants and toddlers at risk of developmental <br />delays. In addi%ion, tke Community Services Board has received <br />continued funding for the substance abuse program in the jail. <br />The Jail Program includes substance abuse and AIDS education, <br />group counseling ,and case management services. · <br /> <br /> These programs reouire a local match in total of S <br /> ~ 556 <br />which is already appropriated in the Community Services Board's <br />budget. A b~dget summary is attached. <br /> <br /> I am pleased that we are able to continue these services <br />and therefore recommend a transfer of $101,618 from the Grants <br />Contingency Account for these activities." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Cl~emons and seconded by Mr. Epperson, ,the <br />recommendation to transfer $101,618 for the jail subs~tance abuse <br />program and screening of infants and .toddlers who are at risk of <br />developmental delays in growth and functioning waS adopted, and <br />by the following, vote: ~ <br /> <br />AYES: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />NAYS: None <br /> <br /> <br />
