Smith, R. Smith, Holley Nays: None Ms. Randall offered the following nomination: SOUTHEASTERN PUBLIC SERVICE AUTHORITY-SPSA John B. Maher to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending June 30,2007, replacing James B. Oliver, Jr. Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Ms. Psi mas, to close nominations, and the above nomination were adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley Nays: None 07 - 99 - Items Submitted by Council Members '" Mr. D. Smith, as a member of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, gave an update on the transportation bill passed by the General Assembly. '" Ms. Randall announced the upcoming Mayor's Ball, Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel. '" Mr. R. Smith informed Council and citizens of a series of meetings being held by the Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA). '" Mr. Moody informed Council and staff of the absence of South Fairview Heights as part of the drainage study featured in the Virginian Pilot earlier in the week. 07 - 100 - Report on Pending Items There were no items. 07 - 101 - Non-Agenda Speakers 1. Kathleen Carlson, 116 Chowan Drive, spoke of the disadvantages of technology. 2. Scott Agee, 4317 Bart Street, spoke on the disparity in the Portsmouth Police Department salaries in comparison to the other cities in Hampton Roads. 3. Gordon Shelton, 10 Crawford Parkway, brought to Council's attention what he believes are inaccurate statements made during the Boat Tax presentation earlier in the evening.
