Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />07 - 50 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting $32,406 in funds from the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriating the sum of <br />$36,006 in the FY 2006-2007 Grants Fund Budget for a Juvenile Violation Intervention <br />Project. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program allows the Community Criminal <br />Justice Board to identify and fund services for seriously violent juvenile offenders in <br />Portsmouth. <br />. The program has been continually funded for eight years. We currently provide a <br />Violation Intervention Program for serious, violent juvenile offenders aged 10-14 offering <br />intensive supervision services and electronic monitoring. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. The Department of Criminal Justice Services has made available $32,406 In <br />federal funds to support this program locally. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. There is a $3,600 local match required that is being provided from Juvenile Court <br />Services Outreach funds. <br />
