King, J~ohnny M. <br />ClemonS, John H, EpperS0n, Bernard D. Griffin, James C; Hawks, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, Roy W. Cherry, Deputy City Manager, Stuart E. <br />Katz, City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor King opened the meeting with prayer which was <br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />93-88 Public, Hearing on a proposed, amendment to ~the City Code <br /> and a rezoning application: <br /> <br /> a) CA-92-06 - CODE AMENDMENT - ZONING ORDINANCE - Request of <br /> William G. Jones, Planning Director, to amend <br /> certain sections of Chapter 40 of the Code of <br /> the City of portsmouth pertaining to sign <br /> regulations re!ating~ to temporary signs, <br /> exempted signs, and prohibited signs. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to concur <br />with the reco_~mlendation of the Planning Commission that <br />CA-92-06 be approved on first reading and by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Pitts and seconded by Mr. Clemons to <br />amend the motion by removing Subsection (V) of Section <br />40-61.1-1 (9,1), failed by a 5-2 (Clemons, Pitts) vote. <br /> <br />(b) Z-93-03 - NORTH CHURCHLAND NEIGHBORHOOD - Rezoning <br /> application of Long Point Development <br /> Corporation for property on the west side of <br /> Twin Pines Road between the subdivisions of <br /> Windy Pines and Long Point. <br /> Eric C. Anderson, 5299 Grenwich Road, vi.rginia Beach, VA <br />representing Long Point Development Corporation, spoke in <br />support of the rezoning application. <br /> <br /> James H. Flesher, 3916 Flagship Way, representing Long <br />Point Civic League, spoke in support of the rezoning <br />application. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. King, to <br />concur with the recommendation of the Planning Commission that <br />the rezoning application be approved on first reading and by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion meeting was adjourned at 8:i5 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> <br />
