May 11, i993~ At a Called Meet.lng of the City Council on Tuesday, May 11, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Ctemons, John H. Eppers~n, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks*, Cameron C. Pitts, V. ,Wayne !OrtOn, CitylManager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-176 - The follQwing call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of held in the City Council Chamber, 6th Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may oonsider a Executi~ Session. By order of thee Mayor." 93-!78 - The following items wsre Work Sess~ion: the City Council to be floor of City Hall, 801 May 11, 1993, for the motion to go into an discussed in the Public Presentation by Ronnie Lewis, Captain, Portsmouth Police Department and Charles R. Johnson, Director of Human Services, on taxicabs. ~otion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Epperson to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (I) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by staff pertaining to matters of actual litigation (Anderson suit, Weipert suit, Moore suit), as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); (3) Discussion and consideration of the use or condition of publicly held property in the eastern and downtown portions of the City, as permitted under Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Clemons and seconded by Mr. Pitts pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Council Member's knowledge that during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters open meeting requirements by the Information Act, and lawfully exempted from Virginia Freedom of (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
