October 26, 1993 <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk send a copy of <br />this resolution to the President of the United States and to <br />United States Senators Warner and Robb and United States <br />Congressmen Sisisky and Scott, and to the Governor of Virginia <br />and State Senators Lucas and Quayle and Delegates Moore and <br />Melvin." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />-NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />93-421 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments to Boards and Commissions. <br /> <br />93-422 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />(a) Mr. Pitts acknowledged that the City of Portsmouth received <br />the 1992 Outstanding Achievement Award presented by the American <br />Automobile Association (AAA) for pedestrian programactivities. <br /> <br />(b) Mr. Katz made a statement about the proposed ABEX site on <br />behalf of the potential responsible parties. <br /> <br />(c) Mr. Harold Yates, EPA representative, was present for <br />questions from City Council and citizens. He advised that EPA <br />would receive citizen input regarding a proposed amendment to <br />the ABEX Record of Decision. <br /> <br />(d) Mr. Hawks requested that the City Manager inquire into the <br />financial circumstances of the Virginia Symphony to determine if <br />Portsmouth should proceed with ~nunediate financial relief. <br /> <br />(e) Mr. Clemons requested that a listing from the City Attorney <br />of all public and private residents in the Superfund site be <br />sent to the EPA to assist in its communication with the affected <br />citizens. <br /> <br />(f) Mr. Clemons inquired about the nominations for the Chamber <br />of Co~unerce Task Force for Economic Development. Mayor Webb <br />explained that she had sent a response to the Chamber. <br /> <br />93-423 - Receipt of Other Communications <br /> <br />There were no other communications submitted. <br /> <br />93-424 - Continued Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />There were no additiOnal non-agenda'speakers. <br /> <br />- ADJOURNMENT - <br /> <br />On motion meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m. <br /> <br />~Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
