<br />Julv 11. 2006 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Marlene W. Randall, William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psi mas, Ray A. Smith, Sr., Douglas L. Smith, City <br />Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. <br /> <br />06 - 308 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2006 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />06 - 309 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Tourism Strategic Plan - Lynne Lochen <br /> <br />2. Inspections Update - John Rowe <br />Code Enforcement Sweeps <br /> <br />3. Year End Report - John Maher <br /> <br />4. Neighborhood & Community Transformation Update - Dr. Patton <br /> <br />5. Development Update - John Rowe <br />Mainline Safety <br /> <br />6. Review of City Manager's Report Items <br /> <br />06 - 310 - Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss: <br /> <br />appointments of citizens and council members as members of or liaisons to <br />boards, commissions, and other organizations, as permitted under subsection A(1); <br /> <br />prospective new business(es), where there has been no prior public <br />announcement, as permitted under subsection (A)5; and <br /> <br />the acquisition of real property and the sale of publicly held real property, <br />where discussion in open session would adversely affect the city's bargaining position <br />or negotiating strategy, as permitted under subsection (A)3. <br /> <br />The subject business(es) and real property are in the Downtown and Midtown <br />areas of the City. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of appointments <br />of new members to council boards and commissions, of Council liaisons to boards, <br />commissions, and public bodies, and of Council representatives to various public <br />boards and other organizations. It will also permit confidential discussion of prospective <br />new business(es) and of the acquisition and sale of real property in two areas of the <br />City. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br />
