Julv 11. 2006 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Marlene W. Randall, William E. Moody, Jr., Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psi mas, Ray A. Smith, Sr., Douglas L. Smith, City Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 06 - 308 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2006 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 06 - 309 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Tourism Strategic Plan - Lynne Lochen 2. Inspections Update - John Rowe Code Enforcement Sweeps 3. Year End Report - John Maher 4. Neighborhood & Community Transformation Update - Dr. Patton 5. Development Update - John Rowe Mainline Safety 6. Review of City Manager's Report Items 06 - 310 - Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss: appointments of citizens and council members as members of or liaisons to boards, commissions, and other organizations, as permitted under subsection A(1); prospective new business(es), where there has been no prior public announcement, as permitted under subsection (A)5; and the acquisition of real property and the sale of publicly held real property, where discussion in open session would adversely affect the city's bargaining position or negotiating strategy, as permitted under subsection (A)3. The subject business(es) and real property are in the Downtown and Midtown areas of the City. The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of appointments of new members to council boards and commissions, of Council liaisons to boards, commissions, and public bodies, and of Council representatives to various public boards and other organizations. It will also permit confidential discussion of prospective new business(es) and of the acquisition and sale of real property in two areas of the City. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
