<br />120 <br /> <br />June 19. 2006 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, June 19, 2006, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Ray A. Smith, Sr., <br />City Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />06 - 268 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2006 for the <br />purpose of a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />06 - 270 - Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia,: <br /> <br />subsection 7 for consultation with legal counsel and staff pertaining to <br />litigation, and also consultation with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters <br />requiring the provision of legal advice. <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting is litigation involving Friendship Temple, also <br />known as the Garden of Prayer. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to discuss legal strategy toward concluding this <br />litigation. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(0) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 6:29 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Anita Y.
