<br />Mav 23. 2006 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, *Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psi mas, *Ray A. Smith, Sr., <br />City Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />06 - 224 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2006 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />06 - 225 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Inspection's Update - John Rowe <br /> <br />2. Neighborhood & Community Transformation Update - Dr. Patton <br />Community Events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce <br />Civic Organization Funding <br />. Dr. Patton will meet with liaisons (Ms. Psi mas and Mr. Moody) to bring <br />back funding suggestions to Council at the June 13, 2006 Council <br />meeting. <br />Homelessness Initiative Funding <br />Events at a glance <br />Landscaping Contract <br /> <br />3. Development Update - John Rowe <br />Paradise Creek <br />Court House <br />. Councilman Heretick and Councilwoman Psi mas were appointed Court <br />House liaisons. <br /> <br />4. 3rd Quarter Financial Report - Lance Wolff <br /> <br />5. Review of City Manager's Report Items <br /> <br />6. City Council Liaison Reports <br />Councilwoman Randall gave an update on School liaison. <br />Councilman Whitehurst reported on Ocean Marine's Poker Progress Run for the <br />March of Dimes. <br /> <br />7. Commission of Architectural Review - 257-259 Mt. Vernon Avenue <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to postpone, at the property <br />owners request, consideration of the Commission of Architectural Review (Port <br />Norfolk/Park View) denial to retain replacement windows at 257-259 Mt. Vernon Avenue <br />to the meeting of August 8, 2006, and was adopted by a vote of 7 -0. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br />
