<br />080 <br /> <br />Mav 12. 2006 <br /> <br />At a Special Called Meeting of the City Council on Friday, May 12, 2006, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, *Ray A. Smith, <br />Sr., City Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />City ManaQer's Staff <br />Dr. L. Pettis Patton, Deputy City Manager <br />John L. Rowe, Deputy City Manager <br /> <br />Attorney <br />Steve Lieberman <br /> <br />06 - 211 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Special Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the <br />6th Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2006 for <br />the purpose of a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />06 - 212 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to: <br /> <br />consult with legal counsel and staff members pertaining to pending <br />litigation and specific legal matters, as per subsection 7. <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting will be the current litigation over the Garden <br />of Prayer Church. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of legal strategy <br />for this case. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(0) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 6:07 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED- <br />urc --L-<-~ v-J ~\~ ilL <br />Dr. James W.
