<br />Mav 9.2006 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Ray A. Smith, Sr., <br />City Manager James B. Oliver, Jr., City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />06 - 198 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2006 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />06 - 199 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Inspections Update - John Rowe <br />- Tire Code <br /> <br />2. Neighborhood Transformation Update - Dr. Patton <br />Ntelos Update <br />Chapter 16 Update <br />Funding for Civic Organizations <br />Pokey Smokey Update <br />Mowing Contract <br />Community Management Update <br />Seawall Festival at North Landing <br /> <br />3. Development Update - John Rowe <br />Cradock Conservation Plan <br />Crawford Urban Renewal Plan <br />Courthouse Renovation <br />Corridor Plans <br />Historic District <br />Senate Finance Committee Update <br />- Wireless Council Chamber <br /> <br />4. Review of City Manager's Report Items - John Rowe <br /> <br />5. City Council Liaison Reports <br />Mayor Holley appointed Councilmen Smith and Whitehurst as liaisons to the <br />Supplemental Retirement Board. <br /> <br />6. Commission of Architectural Review (CAR) Appeal - 231 Hatton Street <br /> <br />The applicant requested that his appeal of the decision of the CAR be withdrawn. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to accept the applicant's <br />withdrawal, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />06 - 200 - Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss: <br />
