<br />028 <br /> <br />March 28. 2006 <br /> <br />SOUTH HAMPTON ROADS DISABILITY SERVICES BOARD <br /> <br />Paul Battle to fill an unexpired term ending December 31,2006, replacing William <br />Etheridge. <br /> <br />"I <br /> <br />COMMISSION OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW - PORT NORFOLK/PARK VIEW <br /> <br />Harry Costello to be reappointed for a three year term ending March 31,2009. <br /> <br />Sallye DiVenuti to be reappointed for a three year term ending March 31, 2009. <br /> <br />David Powers to be reappointed for a three year term ending March 31,2009. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the <br />nominations, and the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Moody <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 145 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />~ Vice Mayor Moody informed citizens of the concerns Council members have with <br />the budget and their plan to, individually, go through the budget to list those <br />things that may need to be set aside to further decrease the tax rates. <br /> <br />~ City Manager James Oliver informed citizens that choices will have to be made <br />with regards to what they deem to be a priority in the City. He also wanted <br />citizens to take into consideration the revenue questions to fund these projects <br />and the need to build a budget and revenue system for funding. <br /> <br />~ Vice Mayor Moody wanted to dispel a rumor in the community that City Manager <br />Oliver has asked Police Chief Long not to include hiring of new police officers in <br />the budget because funds were not available. <br /> <br />City Manager James Oliver confirmed that Police Chief Long was not given <br />instruction to forego including funding in the budget to hire new police officers. <br /> <br />Police Chief Edward Long explained to citizens that the first goal of the Police <br />Department is to fill any vacancies and to do any over hires. Once that happens, <br />there will be a reassessment of what is needed in the department. <br /> <br />06 - 146 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 9: 17 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br /> <br />Ani a Y.
