Fleming to be reappointed for a four year term ending August 31, <br />2009. <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION <br /> <br />Barbeta Terry to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations <br />and the above nominations were adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />05 - 393 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to appoint Tiffany D. <br />Mack as a Deputy City Clerk effective September 6, 2005, to also be sworn in on that <br />date, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />'" Vice Mayor Moody wanted to bring to the attention of the citizens of Cradock a <br />community picnic being sponsored by the Cradock Baptist Church, Sunday, <br />August 28, 2005 at the Cradock Women's Club, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />'" Councilwoman Randall wanted to give a report and make citizens aware of the role <br />of the Local Emergency Planning Committee and Cities Corps Council. This 14 <br />member committee is made up of Portsmouth citizens, city, state and private <br />industry employees whose purpose is to ensure the public's right to know about <br />possible chemical hazards in the community according to the SARA Title III, <br />Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act. <br /> <br />'" Councilwoman Randall also wanted to make citizens aware of the many <br />opportunities offered by Empowerment 2010 which is located at 2011 Queen <br />Street, Portsmouth. <br /> <br />'" Vice Mayor Moody made citizens and the Council aware of the participation by the <br />Fire and Police Departments in the August 3, 2005, Red Cross' Hero Games and <br />congratulated them on their numerous 1 st and 2nd place victories. <br /> <br />05 - 394 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br />
