<br />July 12. 2005 <br /> <br />HAMPTON ROADS REGIONAL JAIL <br /> <br />Councilman Heretick to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Randall to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />MAYOR'S COMMISSION ON AGING <br /> <br />Joanne Chupik to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Dolores McCadney to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Lendora Riddick to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the <br />nominations and the above nominations were adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />05 - 316 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />"Y Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to restore $40,000 to <br />the Virginia Arts Festival to plan the Ruth Brown Blues Festival which will be <br />held in May of 2006. "The additional funds will make the total contribution to <br />the Virginia Arts Festival $100,000. That does not require any additional <br />funding as this money was included in our budget as a contingency and it is in <br />accordance with the contract executed in 2003 between the City of Portsmouth <br />and the Virginia Arts Festival which was a three year commitment of $100,000 <br />per year. That commitment has now been concluded." The motion was <br />adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />"Y Councilwoman Psimas gave an update on the Path of History Committee's last <br />meeting and also gave an update on the new things happening with <br />TodiMusicFest. <br /> <br />"Y Councilman Heretick informed citizens of the Request For Proposal (RFP) <br />process with respect to the contract for the management and operation of the <br />nTelos Pavilion. <br /> <br />"Y Councilman Whitehurst submitted the name Fort Nelson Park to be considered <br />as the park name at the end of the Path of History. <br /> <br />"Y Mayor Holley submitted the name Gosport to be considered as the park name <br />at the end of the Path of History. <br /> <br />05 - 317 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br />05 - 318 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, wanted to clarify statements he made <br />at the previous Council meeting. He also expressed his concern of a proposal <br />circulating in the Community to extend the name Olde Towne beyond its existing <br />boundaries. <br /> <br />2. Martha Ann Creecy, 317 Dinwiddie Street, came before Council to apologize for a <br />mistake she made with regards to a fellow citizen. <br />
