April 13, 2004 <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan and the 2005 Action Plan's Proposed <br />Statement of Objectives and Use of Funds having been reviewed and considered, said <br />plans be and hereby are approved in all respects, and the City Manager is hereby <br />authorized to file the Final Statement of Objectives and Use of Funds and any additional <br />information as may be required with the Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development in order to obtain funding for the Program. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is designated as the <br />certifying officer and authorized representative of the City of Portsmouth and shall <br />provide assurances as required of the locality by the Acts for the approval of the <br />Program." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />04 -141 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey the Old 1891 <br />Building located on the eastern side of Washington Street between Queen and London <br />Streets to the Industrial Development Authority. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey the Old 1891 <br />Building located on the eastern side of Washington Street between Queen and London <br />Streets to the Industrial Development Authority <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The City has acquired the building in accordance with the agreement made with <br />Monumental United Methodist Church. <br /> <br />· This is the historic building that was wrapped into the old St. Paul's School Building <br />and is to be conveyed to IDA for future development. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The building will be placed on the City's tax rolls with its redevelopment. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY THE OLD 1891 <br />BUILDING LOCATED ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF WASHINGTON STREET <br />BETWEEN QUEEN AND LONDON STREETS TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT <br />AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute such deeds or other <br />documents as may be necessary to convey to the Industrial Development Authority, the <br />old 1891 Building located on the eastern side of Washington Street and London Street, <br />said parcel to be designated as "Parcel B" on a plat known as "MINOR SUBDIVISION <br />OF THE PROPERTY OF MONUMENTAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, <br />PORTSMOUTH", DATED January 5, 2004, made by Stephen I. Boone and Associates, <br />P.C., Land Surveyors, Portsmouth, Virginia and to be recorded in the Clerk's Office of <br />the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia in Map Book 19, pages 198 and <br />199" <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
