<br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 20, 2004, there
<br />were present:
<br />
<br />Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, J. Thomas Benn III, William E.
<br />Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall, City Manager C. W.
<br />McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.

<br /> Councilman Cameron C. Pitts opened the meeting with prayer, which was
<br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />
<br />04 - 18 - The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />
<br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held at I. C. Norcom
<br />High School, 1801 London Boulevard, 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2004 for the
<br />purpose of a Community Meeting.
<br />
<br />By order of the Mayor."

<br />1. Jack Tynch, 2808 Acres Road, spoke on funding for education.
<br />
<br />2. John Lifsey, 229 Mount Vernon Avenue, President, Port Norfolk Civic League,
<br /> spoke on historic district guidelines and code inspections.
<br />
<br />3. Reggie Allen, 1421 Wilcox Avenue, congratulated the City for a fine job after Isabel.
<br /> Also, he spoke on street light out in his community.
<br />
<br />4. Stephanie Sieradzki, 4017 Long Point Boulevard, Vice President, Long Point Civic
<br /> Association, spoke on City owned properties in her neighborhood.
<br />
<br />5. Purvis H. Richardson, Sr., 2607 Evergreen Place, spoke on street improvements in
<br /> his neighborhood.
<br />
<br />Michelle Weiss, 108 London Street, President, Olde Towne Civic League, spoke on
<br />the essential to maximize the economic potential of the City by raising the standard
<br />of new development.
<br />
<br />7. Ravette Blackstock, 4028 Long Point Boulevard, spoke on funds for increasing
<br /> teacher's salaries.
<br />
<br />8. Willemia C. Jones, 3221 Armistead Drive, spoke on bus service for senior citizens
<br /> to the Senior Station.
<br />
<br />9. Paul Landers, 402 Cabot Street, spoke on storm drains in his neighborhood.
<br />
<br />10. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, spoke on the community meeting
<br /> format.
<br />
<br />11. Bruce Bremer, 256 Constitution Avenue, spoke on the retention of police officers
<br /> and various concerns in his neighborhood.
<br />
<br />12. Martha Ann Creecy, 317 Dinwiddie Street, spoke on the City's historic districts.
<br />
<br />13. Dottie Wyatt, 99 Channing Avenue, President, Cradock Civic League, spoke on
<br /> various concerns in her neighborhood.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Moody spoke on the passing of a former Council member, J. Herbert
<br />Simpson, Sr. and homage was paid to his memory with a moment of silence.
