September 23~ 2003 <br /> <br />determined¢ and all wires, conduits, cables, transformers, transformer enclosures, <br />concrete pads, manholes, handholes, connection boxes, accessories and <br />appurtenances desirable in connection therewith; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the apprepdate placement for the lines would be in an easement not <br />to exceed 30 feet in width across property at the Lake Kilby Water Treatment Facility; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dominion Virginia Power has requested that such easement be <br />granted in order that the improvements may proceed. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to grant to <br />Dominion Virginia Power an easement for the sole purpose of providing underground <br />and overhead facilities for the distribution of electricity, said easement not to exceed 30 <br />feet in width." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />03 - 350 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />03 - 351 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst announced the Southeastern Public Service Authority <br />(SPSA) has received another award and this is applied for the Business by the Bay <br />Section of Chesapeake Bay Program. The award will be presented in Laurel, <br />Maryland, Wednesday, October 1,2003. <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts announceo the rescheduling of the Community Meeting on the <br />theme of City finances and budgeting at Woodrow Wilson High School, Monday, <br />September 29, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Griffin spoke on the restraint that citizens of the City of Portsmouth have <br />shown during the cdsis of Hurricane Isabel. Also, he complimented the staff of the <br />City of Portsmouth, headed by Mr. McCoy, the Directors and the management. <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst spoke on the appreciation for the number of helpers that <br />came from outside of the City and the fantastic job city employees have done. <br /> <br />03 - 352 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1.
