Au,qust 26, 2003 <br /> <br />03 - 308 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst announced the Vision 2005 Scotts Creek and north side <br />communities will have a session September 4, 2003, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council <br />Chamber. <br /> <br />Councilman Moody inquired about Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AED) Devices <br />being installed in the city hall building. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Randall asked about Centre Avenue street improvements and <br />community upgrade. <br /> <br />Councilman Moody announced the Community Meeting at Woodrow Wilson High <br />School, Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Randall announced her 45th wedding anniversary and she is <br />spending it with the City she loves, the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />03 - 309 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, spoke on interaction with City Council. <br /> <br />2. Mildred C. Newby, 1438 Atlantic Avenue, Chesapeake, spoke on the demolition of <br /> properties on Williamsburg Avenue. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or <br />consider the following: <br /> <br />the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose. <br /> <br /> The subject matter of the meeting includes possible sale and development of <br />publicly owned real property. <br /> <br /> The purpose of the meeting is to protect the public interest by ensuring frank and <br />confidential discussion of matters for which public disclosure could harm or jeopardize <br />the public interest. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
