Au,qust 26, 2003 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, J. Thomas Berm III, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall, City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 03 - 296 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Manager's Conference Room, Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2003 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 03 - 297 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Breaking News Update - Re: Andy Fox 2. Pinners Point Update 3. Hampton Roads Utility Billing Service (HRUBS) - Scott Demharter 4. Public Safety Grants - Chief Joseph E. Pozzo 5. Route 57 - Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) - Scott Demharter 03 - 298 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose. The subject matter of the meeting includes possible sale and development of publicly owned real property. The purpose of the meeting is to protect the public interest by ensuring frank and confidential discussion of matters for which public disclosure could harm or jeopardize the public interest. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
