Au,qust 26, 2003 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />J. Thomas Berm III, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. <br />Randall, City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />03 - 296 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called <br />Manager's Conference Room, <br /> <br />Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br /> <br />August 26, 2003 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />03 - 297 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Breaking News Update - Re: Andy Fox <br /> <br />2. Pinners Point Update <br /> <br />3. Hampton Roads Utility Billing Service (HRUBS) - Scott Demharter <br /> <br />4. Public Safety Grants - Chief Joseph E. Pozzo <br /> <br />5. Route 57 - Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) - Scott Demharter <br /> <br />03 - 298 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss or consider the following: <br /> <br /> the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose. <br /> <br /> The subject matter of the meeting includes possible sale and development of <br />publicly owned real property. <br /> <br /> The purpose of the meeting is to protect the public interest by ensuring frank and <br />confidential discussion of matters for which public disclosure could harm or jeopardize <br />the public interest. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
