July 28, 2003 3 9 3 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, July 28, 2003, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, J. Thomas Berm III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., *Marlene W. Randall. 03 - 266 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., July 28, 2003 for the purpose of a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 03 - 267 - Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: the performance of public officials, as per subsection 1. The subject matter of the meeting includes the performance of individual public officials. The purpose of the meeting is to protect the public interest by ensuring confidential discussion of matters which are inappropriate for public discussion. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, cer[ifying that tb the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
