July 21, 2003 38 1 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, July 21, 2003, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W~ Holley Iii, *Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr:, *Cameron C. Pitts, <br />J: Thomas Benn III, William E; Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., *Marlene W. <br />Randall, City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />03 - 249 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held Jn the City <br />Manager's Conference RoOm, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., July 21, 2003 <br />for the purpose of a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br /> By order of Councilman Moody, Councilman Whitehurst and Councilwoman <br />Randall." <br /> <br />03 - 250 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2:2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss or consider the following: <br /> <br />personnel matters, as per subsection 1. <br /> <br /> The subject matter of the meeting includes the performance of individual <br />employees of the City. The purpose of the meeting is to protect the public interest by <br />ensuring confidential discussion of matters which are inappropriate for public <br />discussion. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard~ discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:42 p.m~ <br /> <br />Victor H.
