November 25, 2002 22 3 <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, November 25, 2002, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley Ill, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, J. Thomas <br />Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall, City Manager <br />C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />02 - 365 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6~" floor, 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2002 for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />02 - 366 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Water Update <br />2. Todi Festival <br /> <br />02 - 367 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the <br />following: <br /> <br /> performance of specific public officers, per subsection 1; and consultation with legal <br />counsel about specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice, as per subsection 7. <br /> <br /> The subject matter of the meeting includes specific public officers and legal matters <br /> involving interpretation of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose of the <br /> meeting is to protect the public interest by ensuring confidential discussion of matters, <br /> which are inappropriate discussion. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin. and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.2~3712(D) <br />of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br /> the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were .identified in the motion by which the <br /> Closed Meeting was convenea, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting <br /> by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. <br /> <br />Senior Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
