Welton, the Council decided to go into a~u election to Fill Second Ward, emused by resignation of ~r. ~nas. G. Hume therefrom. Hanvey w~s put in nomination to fill smid vacancy: John H.: W~tts, Warren~ Corbitt: Eilisoly~ Welton~ Hall, J. 13. H. Jr., ~ir. J. T. %ions, he wms elected by the following vote: For--John~. Hall, H. Hawks~ Tyler sent in his resignation ~s ~ member of the Common Council from the Fourth ~mrd~ Whereupon: after m~r~ expressions of regret by members for the loss of Mr. Tyler from this body, resignation w~s ~ecepted, and the following resolution was adooted in connection therewith: "Whereas, ~. Jno. C. Tyler hms offered his resignation as m member of the Co~mmon Council, "Resolved, ?n~t we accept the resigr%tion with great regret--recognizing that in this body is losing'one of its most faithful, energetic mnd cmpable members. ~Resolved, ~n~t a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Tyler." The following resolution offered by ~{r. JOSH. Hall: was ~dopted: "~ereas, this body hms requested the City ~ttorney to render mn opinion as to City: under certain eonditions, to take steps for cancelling the frauehise of the N. Company; and Wherems, afterthe attention of the City Attorney has been subsequently c~lled to this he has failed to make the report-- Therefore: be it ~esolved: having been in the h~ds of the City Attorney to give of the Council.
