A. of ~. in which request was made <br /> that the Council co-operate with the Central Labor Union, the Business ~en's~Assooimtion, Retail Bet- <br /> chants~ Association and other business bodies of Portsmouth and Norfolk in an effort to be made for <br /> securing the passage by 0engross of m "deficiency bill" and a bill to provide for the buildim~ of a <br /> ship at the Navy Yard; and that a committee be appointed to frame and submit to Congress a petition <br /> infurthe~anoe of the resolution. <br /> <br /> The request of Portsmouth Lodge, L A. of ~. was unanimously endorsed. <br /> <br /> ~r. M. C. H~nrah~n sent in his resignation as a member of this body: and the same was accepted. <br /> The Treasurer requested an adoption of the following resolution: <br /> <br /> Resolved, that the Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized to make notes in the several City <br />ba~s to amount of fifteen tho~sar~ (~15,000) dollars, to meet current expenses for the month of ~eb- <br />ruary, 1908; and the said notes to said amount are to be m~de upon the same terms and conditions as <br />were proposed by the said bar~s and adopted by the City Council Januamy 5: 1904. <br /> <br /> And the resolution was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes--H~ll~ John H., HamJ;ey: Corbitt, ~elton, Hall, J.
