Hawks, the Joint Street Committee was instrueted to consider the advisability of eurbi~g ~nd guttering the east side of Dinwiddie street, between North street and the Boulevard. Mm. John H. Hall moved to refer to the Joint Pin,nee Committee the question of City Notes given the People's Bank and held as collateral By other banks in Norfolk s~nd Portsmouth. The motion w~s adopted. The Chair stated that he would not be at the next meetir~ of the body, as he expected to take a European trip of several months duration, The announcement called forth some Jocular and pleasant remarks about the trip f~om other mem- bors of the body.
