April 26, 1994 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, April <br />26, 1994, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, *Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. <br />Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. <br />Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. <br />Kats, City Attorney. <br /> <br />94-140 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5~00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 1994, for the <br />purpose of a joint meeting With the Municipal Finance Commission <br />and a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 94-141 The following items were discussed in the Public <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Joint meeting with the Municipal Finance Commission. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Willard Stanbeck <br />Burton Laskin <br />Christopher Doyle <br />Kevin Joseph <br /> <br />2. Police and Fire Retirement System <br /> <br />3. Ebony Showcase <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. King, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 <br />of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions <br />by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the use, acquisition or <br />disposition of publicly held real property in the downtown, <br />Churchland and central portions of the City for public purposes, <br />as permitted under Subsection (A)(3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefings by <br />staff regarding legal matters involving the ABEX Superfund site, <br />noise ordinance enforcement and a matter of litigation <br />(Landerman suit), as permitted under Subsection (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Clemons <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying <br />that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
